If you want some decorative type of fence around your residential or commercial property, choosing frameless glass balustrades is a great option. Used in many buildings, internally and externally, balustrades support balconies, staircases, and provide safety and security. They fit in perfectly with the aesthetic of single-family homes as well as the majesty of high rise apartment and office buildings. While various materials can be used to design a striking and functional balustrade, commercial glass balustrades have become extremely popular over recent years, because of its countless benefits. Frameless Glass Balustrades Frameless glass balustrades are popular architectural designs that can be featured on many projects, both internally and externally, to create a clear yet strong safety barrier. Frameless commercial glass balustrades can be used on balconies and stairwells with various fixing techniques depending on the surrounding elements. The balustrades can also get integrated into a number of aluminium door frames to create a minimal Juliette Balcony. Using a proprietary channel base can hide away all the fixings to give a completely frameless glass panel that’s safe for use. Any external glass balustrades from Provista will be made with a specially designed, externally rated interlayer for excellent weather resistance level. Transparent Safety Barriers Due to the minimal fixing of frameless glass balustrades, you need to be secure taking the reliability and safety of this barrier. With Provista’s in-house design and structural engineering team, we can design a minimal, aesthetically neat and functional glass barrier with no visible fixings. Commercial glass balustrades can be created with curved glass, of varying heights and length of over 6m long to give greater freedom of design for these bespoke structural glass elements. For a more decorative effect, colored inter-layers can be introduced to the laminating procedure or you can integrate other laminated materials for an even different effect. Handles, handrails can also be added to the glass balustrade design as required. Different edging details are available to compliment all architectural designs. SPECIFICATION: Channel Fixing for Balustrades: The fixing option is the most minimal option for fixing balustrades. The toughened laminated structural glass balustrade is fixed into a pre-made and specially designed balustrade channel. The channel is designed to be installed below the finished floor level for a frameless balustrade design. Provista will design glass balustrade channel fixing to suit the project requirements and the positioning of the balustrade installation. Bolt Fixing for Balustrades: The design is generally used where a glass balustrade is required to be fixed to the outside of a structure, for instance, staircases. This type of balustrade fixing can be designed in various ways so as to achieve the most preferred design finish for your project. The bolts can be covered with a metal or aluminium pressing to hide them away. Bolted/Clamping Plate Fixing for Balustrades: If a balustrade is over 1.1m high then higher specification fixing techniques are needed to ensure that there’s minimal deflection at the head. The most preferred fixing method for the over height balustrades is a bolted plate or clamping plate fixing detail. This is a surface mounted balustrade fixing method. A steel fixing plate is mounted to the surface of the balustrade using countersunk fixing bolts. The steel plate offers a larger fixing surface area than a bolt fixing and can hence provide a higher stability level to the tall balustrade.
